Why free learning beats free certificates
A lot of edtech works backwards: the expensive part is the paper, and the learning is the freebie that gets you in the door.
We built Atlas the other way around.
Learning first
Every Atlas course is free to take, forever. The lessons are curated from open, licensed sources like freeCodeCamp's curriculum — so the content itself belongs to everyone, and we're transparent about where it came from and how it's licensed.
You learn the way that works: watch, read, then actually write code in the browser with real tests checking your work.
The certificate is proof, not the product
When you finish a course and pass the final exam, you can earn a certificate. It's hash-verified — anyone with the link can confirm it's genuine, that it was really issued to you, and that it hasn't been tampered with.
A certificate that anyone can check is worth more than a piece of paper no one can validate.
What this means for you
- You never pay to learn.
- You never pay to try.
- You only pay — if you want — for a verifiable certificate on the courses that offer one.
- Your progress, your code, your credentials — all yours.
Welcome to Atlas. The direction for success.
