Atlas is a learning platform you can start using for free. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how it's used — in plain language. The short version: we keep your learning history so you can track progress and earn certificates, we don't sell your data, and only certificate verification information is public.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address and password (stored securely and hashed). We may also collect a profile picture and other details you choose to add.
Learning activity. We record the courses you enroll in, the path you are following, lessons you complete, quiz and exam scores, the lessons you unlock, and the certificates you earn. This powers your progress tracking, streaks and certificates.
Payment information. If you purchase a certificate or unlock a lesson, payment details are processed by our payment provider, Paystack. We store only a record of each transaction (reference, amount, item and status) — we do not store your card number. All transactions are processed in Nigerian Naira (NGN).
Usage data. We collect basic analytics such as pages visited, device type and browser, to understand how the platform is used and to keep it fast and reliable.
2. How we use your information
To run the platform: create and manage your account, show your progress, grade exams, and issue verifiable certificates.
To keep the platform safe: prevent abuse, enforce our Terms, and respond to support requests.
To improve Atlas: understand aggregate usage patterns and build better courses.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never rent it out.
3. Sharing your information
We share data only with the service providers we rely on to operate (authentication, hosting, databases, payments via Paystack, and analytics). One category of information is intentionally public: certificate verification records, which anyone can check using the public hash link on a certificate.
We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
4. How we protect your data
We use encryption in transit, secure authentication, and industry-standard hosting. Access to personal data is limited to people who need it to operate the platform. No system is risk-free, but we work hard to keep your data safe.
5. Data retention
We keep your account and learning history while your account is active. Payment records are kept as long as legally required for accounting and tax purposes. You may close your account at any time; we will delete or anonymise the personal data we no longer have a legal reason to keep.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the site is used. You can clear or block cookies in your browser; the platform will still work, though some conveniences may be affected.
7. Age requirements
Atlas is intended for people aged 13 and older. Users under 13 may not create an account. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your personal information. These tools are available in your account, and you can also contact us directly with any privacy request or concern.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated effective date. Continuing to use Atlas after changes means you accept the updated policy.
